What Is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is a diligent process designed to refresh your vehicle’s paintwork, eliminating imperfections and scratches. Using advanced techniques and specialized equipment, this service effectively removes common imperfections such as light scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation. By addressing these flaws at the surface level in your vehicle’s clearcoat, paint correction enhances the overall appearance of your vehicle, making it look as good as new.

Paint correction goes beyond just improving your vehicle’s appearance—it also helps preserve the longevity of your paint. By removing contaminants and imperfections, the process prevents further damage and deterioration that could occur over time. This restoration brings back the depth and clarity of your paint. So, whether your vehicle has suffered from environmental exposure, improper washing techniques, or just the wear and tear of daily driving, paint correction is the ideal solution to revive and safeguard its original beauty.

The Art of High-Quality Paint Correction: Our Process

The number 1 is in a black circle on a white background.

Step One: Exterior Detail

We begin with a comprehensive exterior detail, thoroughly washing and cleaning the vehicle to remove all surface dirt, grime, and contaminants. This step ensures that the paint is perfectly clean and prepped for the paint correction.

Step Two: Paint Decontamination

Next, we perform a paint decontamination process using specialized products such as a clay bar to eliminate embedded contaminants that regular washing cannot remove. This includes removing particles like industrial fallout, tar, and other impurities, leaving the paint smooth and ready for the next stage of the correction.

Step Three: Polishing

We then proceed with polishing the paint. Depending on the package you go for, this will either be a one-step or a two-step process. For the two-step process, we first use a compound to tackle deeper scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation, leveling the paint surface. The second stage utilizes a finer polish to refine the finish, bringing back the clarity and depth of the paint for a flawless, glossy appearance.

Step Four: Paint Sealant Application

Once the paint correction is complete, we apply a high-quality paint sealant. This sealant adds an extra layer of protection, preserving the corrected paint and enhancing its gloss. It also makes future maintenance easier, ensuring your vehicle stays looking its best for longer.

Step Five: Final Inspection and Results

Finally, we conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle’s surface to ensure that all imperfections have been addressed. Our goal is to achieve up to 90%+ defect removal, leaving your vehicle with a showroom-quality finish that is smooth and as free of imperfection as possible.

Why Should Ceramic Coating or PPF Follow Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the best way to effectively eliminate exterior imperfections but for long-lasting results, it’s essential to follow up with ceramic coating or paint protection film. Paint correction brings out the best in your vehicle’s appearance, so why not keep that beautiful finish as long as possible?

Ceramic coating guards the freshly corrected paint against environmental elements, UV rays, and contaminants. Additionally, a ceramic coating will improve the shine and gloss of your vehicle, giving it a sleek, high-end finish that truly stands out. It also makes your vehicle much easier to clean and reduces the likelihood of new imperfections. This means your vehicle’s finish stays protected and looks fresher for longer, cutting down on the need for frequent maintenance.

Or, for the ultimate protection of your vehicle’s surface, consider adding paint protection film (PPF) to your vehicle.  Scratches, swirls, and imperfections don’t stand a chance when PPF is applied to your vehicle. This self-healing film will keep your vehicle’s paint-corrected surface looking brand new for years! PPF is the best way to extend your investment in paint correction.

You can think of a ceramic coating and paint protection film as the final touch of the paint correction process, as it seals up the corrected paint and further protects the newly rejuvenated vehicle.

Paint Correction Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does paint correction correct dents?

No, paint correction does not fix dents in your vehicle's exterior. Paint correction focuses on removing surface imperfections like scratches and swirl marks, while dent correction requires a different process, such as paintless dent repair, and is not included in our paint correction service.

  • Can paint correction fix rust?

Paint correction cannot fix rust. Rust typically penetrates the paint and metal, so it requires more extensive repair work beyond the surface-level polishing that paint correction provides. In fact, we recommend fixing any rust damage prior to paint correction. That said, paint correction and ceramic coating can help to prevent oxidation and rust from forming on your vehicle.

  • How often should you have paint correction done for your vehicle?

There is no one-size-fits-all to this question. We recommend getting a paint correction when noticeable imperfections appear on your vehicle or when you are preparing for services like ceramic coating or paint protection film. With proper maintenance, you may only need paint correction every few years.

  • Is paint correction a permanent solution?

While paint correction provides long-lasting results, it is not a permanent solution. Regular maintenance and protective measures, such as ceramic coating or paint protection film, are essential to preserving the corrected finish.

  • Can you DIY paint correction?

We don’t recommend attempting to do a DIY paint correction. Proper paint correction involves high levels of training, advanced equipment, specialized products, and expertise. If done incorrectly, DIY paint correction can do more harm than good, further damaging your vehicle. For the best outcome, you should always have paint correction done by a professional.
